10U Traveling

9 or 10 years old on Jan 1 of season's year. 8 year olds in 3rd grade invited to tryout.
Competitive level of play that includes tryouts in late February or early March. Most years we field 2-3 travel teams ranging from the A, B and C level.
Players who do not make a traveling team can play 3rd-6th grade In-House . If there is enough interest, players can also register to play on a 10U tourney team. The 10U tourney team will play in the Mendota Heights Masher 10C travel tournament the 2nd weekend in June in addition to in-house schedule and have additional weekend practices.

Primary weeknights: Tuesday/Thursday. Teams may also have make-up games or a rare practice on Monday or Wednesday but will be limited outside of Tuesday/Thursday.
Weekends: Teams will also have one practice each non-holiday, non-tournament weekend. Most teams practice on Sunday afternoon/evening but it is up to coaches and can include practices on Friday nights or on Saturday based on their own schedules or field availability. Teams will participate in 3-6 tournaments (2-3 invitational tournaments in May & June, State Qualifier the last weekend of June, likely State Tourney the weekend after July 4th, and possible Nationals tourney in late July if team earns berth).
Good times for a family weekend vacation would be Memorial Day Weekend, extended July 4th (6/28 - 7/4) , or early August. There may be a weekend or two in June without a tournament but you won't know until early Spring. If you have any vacations in May, June, or July planned, you should let your coaches know immediately. Missing tournaments can have a big impact on the team. We keep roster sizes smaller to allow players more playing time. Placing 15 kids on a team so that at any time 6 kids can be on vacation is not how we want to operate traveling softball. If you will be gone a lot on weekends, we offer in-house softball for families that do not want the larger commitment.

12U Traveling

11 and 12 years old on Jan 1 of season's year.
Tryouts for 12U Traveling take place the previous fall (e.g. 2022 Summer Teams had tryouts in August 2021). Roster spots are not guaranteed. Tryouts are typically the 2nd to last week of August during the week.
Players who do not make a 12U traveling team can play 3rd-6th grade In-House if they are in 5th or 6th grade. 7th graders are able to play school ball during the spring if they do not make a team to continue playing.

14U Traveling

13 and 14 years old on Jan 1 of season's year.
Tryouts for 14U Traveling take place the 2nd to last week in August to place players on teams for the following season. Roster spots are not guaranteed.
We typically have 1-2 14A teams, 1-2 14B teams and 0-1 14C teams.
Players who do not make a 14U traveling team are able to play school ball in the spring, whether middle school or high school.
Warrior Fastptich is open to all players at 14U+ but we maintain at least 60% participation rate among those within ISD 197 boundary.

Season calendar differs from 10U and 12U. 14U begins later and ends later. Regular season schedule runs mid-May through week after July 4th.
Primary weeknights: Tuesday/Thursday. Teams may also have make-up games or some practice on Monday or Wednesday.
Weekends: Teams will also have one practice each non-holiday, non-tournament weekend. Teams will participate in 3-6 tournaments (2-3 invitational tournaments in late May & June, State Qualifier the weekend after July 4th, State Tourney the weekend after that, and possible Nationals tourney in late July if team earns berth).
Note: Our 14U Gold team may choose to play a tourney only schedule in some instances. We will communicate that ahead of time.

16U Traveling

15 and 16 years old on Jan 1 of season's year.
Tryouts for 16U Traveling take place the previous fall (e.g. 2022 Summer Teams had tryouts in August 2021). Roster spots are not guaranteed.
Players who do not make a 16U traveling team are able to play school ball in the spring. Summer options will be provided to players in neighboring associations if interested.

Season calendar differs due to high school ball. 16U begins at the start of June. Regular season schedule runs beginning of June with post season ending at the end of July.

Players who do not make a HS traveling team are able to play school ball in the spring. Summer options will be provided to players in neighboring associations if interested. For those that don't make a Warriors team we will help find places to play for those players.

Note: The high school level is open to anyone 15-18 years of age. If participating in tournaments outside of USA softball, they will need to designate as an 18U team.
