Frequently Asked Questions

Can I request teammates?

Requests for ALL  registrations can be entered during registration.  Requests are not guaranteed, but we will try to honor one per player.  Preference will be given to friend requests that match. Coaches friend requests will be prioritized.

How are PreK-2nd Grade Teams Formed?

For our littlest players (PreK/K), every attempt is made to honor Friend Requests.  We look at a players preschool after that to provide familiar faces.

Our 1-2nd grade teams are also created by Friend Requests, but only half of any team is formed by a group of friends.  Teams are also balanced by grade, being equally made up of 1st and 2nd graders based on registration percentages.

The goal is to have each Pre-K through 2nd Grade team with 8-10 players.  All groups play 4v4 or 5v5, and 8-10 players allows for some absences, but without too many kids sitting out at a time.

How are 3-6 grade teams formed?

In order to attempt to create teams that are balanced and competitive, the registrar will work with the TRAA soccer board to form equal teams at the 3-6 grade level.
Teams will be made from friend requests and school attending.

Can My Child "Play Up"?

If you believe your child is mentally (maturity and comprehension) and physically ready to play at a higher age level, and you believe it is in their best developmental interest, please send an email to the REGISTRAR explaining your request prior to registering.

What is the difference between Competitive and REC/In-House?

Competitive soccer is what "Traveling" is for most sports.  Players tryout, and get placed on teams based on ability.  Most Competitive teams have paid coaches and play in tournaments and a league with teams from other clubs at their same ability.

Leagues are provided in our area by MYSA and TCSL.  For MYSA (MN Youth Soccer), the levels are Premier, C1, C2, and C3 for the U11-U19 ages and Maroon and Gold for the U8-U10 ages.  TCSL (a newer league) refers to the levels as National, Regional, State, and Cities.

Competitive teams can play year-round or seasonally (Fall or Summer).

REC/In-House soccer is played mainly within our community. Our program is volunteer-driven with parent coaches, and teams are NOT made by ability but rather with an attempt to balance player skills.

If your child is ready to make a move to a competitive soccer team or would like to continue playing soccer after 6th-grade In-House, our partnership with Salvo Soccer Club creates a complete pathway for all players to continue in the sport they love!
Ranging from community programs to national performance teams, Salvo has a program and team to fit your player.
